Dave Galanis

Dave is founder and Managing Partner of Pebble Creek Partners LLC, a strategic consulting firm to growing companies, and the organizations that invest in them.

In the 14 years since Pebble Creek Partners was founded, Dave has provided management consulting and financial advisory services to scores of companies in the environmental, transportation, and business-to-business services industries.  He has also served in numerous interim management positions including COO of The Novo Group, a nationwide recruiting solutions firm; and Assistant Treasurer for Waste Management, Inc., North America’s leading supplier of integrated waste solutions.  Dave has served on numerous Advisory Boards during his career including  Mahoney Environmental, one of the nation’s largest recycler of used fryer oil, grease trap material and other waste products and RexCon LLC, a leading manufacturer of concrete batch plants, now a part of Astec Industries.

Dave has been an angel investor with Cornerstone Angels and Silicon Prairie – private investment organizations seeking to provide financial capital to early-stage companies in the greater Midwest.  In addition, Dave continues to work with Galvanize in Phoenix to mentor start-up companies.

Dave was Senior Vice President and CFO of ATC Transportation, the recognized leader in providing outsourced transportation operations and management for over 60 municipal transit systems around the nation. Under Dave’s leadership, ATC implemented processes, systems and controls to make the transition from a privately owned organization to a division of a public company. Dave was instrumental in assisting National Express PLC, in the sale of the business to Veolia Transportation in 2005.

Mr. Galanis spent 3 years at Buntrock & Associates, assisting in the management of the investments of Dean L. Buntrock, founder and former Chairman of Waste Management, Inc. Prior to that, Dave spent 17 years at Waste Management, Inc. in various financial management capacities. As Director of Finance for Waste Management of North America, Dave was instrumental in implementing Stern Stewart’s EVA financial management and reporting system to the company. Dave assisted in taking Chemical Waste Management public, and lead the identification, negotiation, due diligence, and integration efforts in scores of acquisitions made by the company throughout the 1980’s and 1990’s.

Dave is a graduate of Loyola University in Chicago, IL.

Jim Long

Jim is an original co-founder of Pebble Creek Partners, LLC,  a strategic consulting firm to growing companies, and the organizations that invest in them.  Jim has made investments in a number of other enterprises, and serves on several boards.

Most recently, Jim was the CEO of Hendry Marine Industries, Inc., a holding company consisting of five subsidiaries primarily focused around ship repair services in the Port of Tampa and across the nation.

Prior to Hendry, Mr. Long lead the carve out of Trinity Services, which would become the leading provider of food and commissary services in the corrections industry. Jim lead the company’s growth from $320 million to $530 million in annualized revenue, employing roughly 3,000 employees and 10,000 inmates in 400 jails and prisons in 46 states, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.

Jim ran Veolia’s North American Solid Waste company with just under $1 billion in revenue, 3,000 employees and operations throughout the Eastern half of the US. Prior to that, Jim was President of ATC Transportation, the nationwide industry leader in providing outsourced transportation operations and management to over 60 transit agencies around the US. During Jim’s tenure, the business was acquired by the UK based National Express and subsequently Veolia Transportation based in France at the time.

Jim spent 14 years with Waste Management during their growth years and through seven relocations, including four years in Europe where he was Finance Director of Waste Management International. Jim also served as the Vice President of Business Improvement as well as Logistics and Fleet Maintenance for all of WM.

He began his career with Arthur Andersen and Co. after receiving a BS Degree in Accounting from Florida Southern College.

Rob Keith

Rob is the Managing Partner of K6 LLC, and an adviser to Pebble Creek Partners, a strategic consulting firm to growing companies, and the organizations that invest in them.

Rob has held various financial positions, including financial analyst, manager of financial reporting and assistant controller, with Wilson Sporting Goods, division of PepsiCo. In 1985 he joined ServiceMaster where he served as treasurer, chief financial officer and group president of ServiceMaster Consumer Services. He also was president and chief operating officer of ServiceMaster Management Services, and in 2002 Rob became president of Aramark ServiceMaster Management Services.

Rob brings important financial and business experience to the board of directors of the Trust Company of Illinois, an independent, fee-only wealth management firm and corporate fiduciary. Rob serves on the board of directors of Delta One Leadership Institute, a group of ServiceMaster leaders to provide small businesses with practical learning for leadership.  Rob also serves on the Board of Advisors at Mahoney Environmental, one of the nation’s largest recycler of used fryer oil, grease trap material and other waste products.  He is also a member of the Board of Advisors at Tredroc Tire Services, a solution driven leader in the commercial tire/off road tire servicing industry.  Rob is a former board member of the Wheaton College Board of Visitors, Moody Bible Institute and Bank One (Downers Grove, IL).

Rob Keith is a Certified Public Accountant and graduated with a B.S. degree in finance and an M.B.A. from Northern Illinois University.

Mike Dempsey

Mike DempseyMike is the Chief Financial Officer of US Transport and an Adviser to Pebble Creek Partners LLC, a strategic consulting firm to growing companies, and the organizations that invest in them.

Mike is located in the Denver area, and has held several senior level financial and operational positions in the environmental services and equipment rental industries.  In his 25+ years working for Fortune 500 companies he has developed specialties in strategic planning, market assessment/investment rationalization, econometric based forecasting and metric based management reporting.

Mike was appointed by Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper to serve a as a Commissioner on the Colorado Solid and Hazardous Waste Commission, a regulatory board promulgating and enforcing State solid and hazardous waste regulations in concert with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

Mike served as the CFO of Burgener Transpro, and spent 3 years at RSC Equipment Rental (acquired by United Rentals in April 2012), a leader in the construction and industrial equipment rental business. As Director of Finance for RSC he championed the market rationalization processes for existing and new market investments to optimize portfolio performance and equipment utilization.

Before being recruited to RSC, Mike spent 23 years in the waste industry in senior level operations and financial roles with Allied Waste (now Republic Waste) and Waste Management. Mr. Dempsey held leadership positions in landfill gas to energy, recycling and solid waste operations. While at Waste Management, Mike was integral to the development of the company’s landfill gas to energy joint venture with Caterpillar Financial, including the integration of alternative energy production tax credits into the company’s financial evaluation process. In his senior field financial roles at Waste Management, Mike spearheaded the evaluation, due diligence and integration of numerous acquisitions in the Rocky Mountain region during the 1990s. While at Allied Waste, Mr. Dempsey held operational and P&L responsibility for the company’s Colorado operations including a 175 truck hauling operation and two solid waste landfill sites.

Mike graduated with honors from Northern Illinois University and holds both a bachelor’s degree in Finance and an MBA from NIU.
