Dave Galanis
Dave is co-founder of Pebble Creek Partners, LLC.
Most recently, Dave was the COO and CFO of The Novo Group, which provides a range of recruiting solutions that help companies find and hire the best talent. Offering all services on a cost effective hourly basis, the firm provides executive and management searches, interim recruiting support, special recruiting projects, complete or partial recruiting outsourcing and consulting and training to improve recruiting results. Prior to The Novo Group, Dave spent 7 months as Interim Assistant Treasurer for Waste Management, Inc. in Houston, Tx.
Dave was Senior VP and CFO of ATC Transportation, the recognized leader in providing outsourced transportation operations and management for municipal transit systems. The $300 million company managed over 60 transit systems around the nation. Under Dave’s leadership, ATC implemented processes, systems and controls to make the transition from a privately owned organization to a division of a public company. Dave was instrumental in assisting National Express PLC, in the sale of the business to Veolia Transportation in late 2005.
Mr. Galanis spent 3 years at Buntrock & Associates, assisting in the management of the investments of Dean L. Buntrock, founder and former Chairman of Waste Management, Inc. Prior to that, Dave spent 17 years at Waste Management, Inc. in various financial management capacities. As Director of Finance for Waste Management of North America, Dave was instrumental in implementing Stern Stewart’s EVA financial management and reporting system to the company. Dave assisted in taking Chemical Waste Management public, and lead the identification, negotiation, due diligence, and integration efforts in scores of acquisitions made by the company throughout the 1980’s and 1990’s. Prior to that, he was a Director of Waste Management’s Information Systems group, and he started with the company as Special Projects Controller monitoring several important initiatives.

Thomas Riek
Tom is a partner with Pebble Creek Partners, LLC.
He most recently served as Chief Executive Officer of Container Recycling Alliance (CRA), an industry-leading recycling organization for recovering glass containers from the waste stream for reuse in the manufacture of new glass products. In August 2006, Mr. Riek partnered with WHI Capital Partners (WHICP), a Chicago-based private equity firm to acquire CRA from Waste Management, Inc. During his tenure, Tom lead his team to achieve the highest level of profitability in the 28 year history of the company by increasing volumes and capacity utilization, management of costs and systematic increase in pricing to customers. In 2008, after only 22 months of operating as a privately held entity, Tom was instrumental in the successful sale of CRA to Strategic Materials, Inc., a Willis Stein and Partners portfolio company.
Prior to CRA, Mr. Riek was the Chief Financial Officer of Recycle America Alliance, LLC. where he assembled and led a financial team of approximately 100 in all aspects of accounting, information systems, credit, trading and financial reporting for the $800 million subsidiary of Waste Management Inc. with 100 facilities and 2,500 employees. In 2000, Mr. Riek successfully guided and directed the separation of the recycling business of Waste Management into a new entity which was then combined with The Peltz Group, Inc., the nation’s largest privately held recycling company, to create Recycle America Alliance, LLC.
During his tenure with Waste Management, Mr. Riek also served as President of Container Recycling Alliance and as Special Projects manager where he teamed with Dave Galanis to successfully develop and implement Stern Stewart’s Economic Value Added (EVA) financial management and reporting system for the company.
Tom is a graduate of Central College in Pella, Iowa and received his MBA in finance from DePaul University.
Jim Long
Jim Long is co-founder and current advisor to Pebble Creek Partners, LLC.
Jim is President and CEO of Veolia Environmental Services Solid Waste, Inc.
Veolia Solid Waste, Inc., is part of Veolia Environmental Services North
America Corp., and is one of the largest solid waste companies in North
America, providing a full range of services to commercial, industrial and
residential customers in 12 states, the Bahamas, and Canada.
Prior to Veolia, Jim was CEO of The Novo Group, which provides a range of
recruiting solutions that help companies find and hire the best talent.
Before The Novo Group, Jim was CEO and President of ATC Transportation, the
recognized leader in providing outsourced transportation operations and
management for municipal transit systems throughout the United States. Mr.
Long spent 13 years at Waste Management, Inc. in various senior management
capacities. His responsibilities over the years included key roles in
finance, operations, maintenance, logistics, and quality improvement.
Prior to his time at Waste Management, Mr. Long spent four years in the
audit division at the accounting firm Arthur Andersen & Co. He is a
graduate of Florida Southern College, and a CPA.
